DaGama Home is located in Luanshya, a copper-belt town in the central Zambian diocese of Ndola. DaGama Provides daily meals for about 300 physically disabled and needy children at two Zambian Catholic schools run by the Franciscan Missionary Sisters of Assisi. The purpose is to support the nutritional health of poor children, so they can get the most out of their education in an environment where they are loved, nurtured, and accepted. In addition to poverty, children who are physically handicapped face rejection and isolation, because they are considered a burden to their family, incapable of contributing to society. The Franciscan Missionary Sisters of Assisi run a Catholic boarding school for physically disabled children in Zambia and a day school for poor children who can’t afford the fees and uniforms required at the public schools. The Catholic schools provide a faith-based education in a loving, accepting environment for disabled and needy children.
